The Korean government is striving at national level to improve the global competitiveness of domestic food industry as a response to the global growth of food industry and Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial government is also, with the effectuation of Korea-China FTA, implementing intensive strategies including declaration of ‘10 Strategy in Korea-China FTA era’ to promote high added value food industry. The Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, particularly, is seeking export opportunity to China and developing processed, fresh, and fermented foods continuously using local specialty, while encouraging participation in food industry. In addition to many local universities and research centers, the province also has unique and mature local food culture and San-che food cluster business and various policies for development of food industries are in place, suggesting optimistic prospect for food export from Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do region. The food companies in this region, though late compared to other regions, become active in developing foreign market and furthermore, China is close geographically and the Korea-China FTA is expanding export opportunity and increasing expectancy for Chinese market exploitation. The Gyeongsangbuk-do is, therefore, making diversified efforts to take advantage of these circumstance for entering Chinese market. For the export to China of food companies in this region and their cooperation, the growing food industry and local in China need to be identified based on the review of Chinese local development strategy and promotion policies for each industry, and to develop aggressive strategies for export and negotiation targeting such food industry and local. The purpose of this study was, therefore, to help Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do based food companies to enter Chinese market and provide them related informations and opportunity by deriving a local with high probability of cooperation and developing strategies for Chinese market entry strategies
